A crime can be committed but then released from prison. The question is, how does bail work? And what exactly is bail? What is a bail bond? And how do bail bondsmen become involved? This video goes over all of this.

When someone is put in prison and is charged with the commission of a crime, they’re brought to an arraignment trial where a judge from the area is present. The judge will decide the severity of the crime and the defendant’s reputation in the local community The judge decides on bail. Bail is a form of security that the criminal makes to release from prison. In the event that the defendant doesn’t make it to the court on the scheduled time, the bail will be paid back.

A bail bondsman may be summoned to help the accused or a family member who is not able to make bail payments. Bail bondsmen charge the defendant 10% of the amount and will then post the balance. This isn’t a guarantee that the defendant will get this 10% price back, however, it’s less expensive than paying it all themselves.

If the accused fails to show up to court, the bail bondsman has the legal authority to detain that individual. For more details on bail, bail bonds, and the impact they have on justice, go to the hyperlink on the video.
